2012/2013 Principality Premiership
Pontypridd 27 v 18 Llanelli
27 April 2013 - Sardis Road, Pontypridd

Match Preview

Win needed at Ponty

Well it’s a case of perm any two from three clubs as far as the play-off’s are concerned. Llanelli, fellow regionalists Llandovery and Bedwas all go into the final round of Principality Premiership fixtures knowing that two spots are up for grabs. As it turns out, the play-off system has certainly added tension to what otherwise might have been a “dull” end to the season with “Ponty” having already secured top spot by a considerable margin.

After our setback at Neath just over a week ago, we got back to winning ways against Newport at the “Parc” last Sunday to keep our play-off hopes alive. The boy’s now have the opportunity of going up to Sardis Road to take on the best side in the league and turn them over on their own patch. A huge ask, but we’ve done it before so why not this time round eh!

Of course “Ponty” will be looking to end their regular season on a high themselves and they’ll have no greater incentive than to maintain their unbeaten home league record this season by beating the team that has featured in the last two play-off finals. Beat us and realistically other than Llandovery beating Bedwas it would be our final game this season.

So with the Scarlets not having a game this week, it’s a great opportunity for our supporters to get behind the boy’s - Yes we all know how tough “Ponty” will be, but with the talent on show in the Llanelli side, get it right on the day and we’re capable of beating anyone.

Look forward to seeing you in Sardis Rd on Saturday.
