After three weeks without a game Llanelli got back into action against Championship side Bonymaen in a friendly encounter at Parc Mawr.
With both sides and referee Andrew Davies contributing to a fast and open game of rugby.
It was Llanelli’s Dale Ford who opened up the home defence with a 50 metre burst after just two minutes.
Then five minutes later prop Shaun Hopkins crashed over for his try after some good approach work form his forwards.
Bonymaen were struggling to deal with the overall pace of the Premiership team but did put enough pressure on the visitors to force a couple of kickable penalties which centre Richard Cunniffe goaled.
Wings Tom Bonnell on permit from Narberth, ran in a hatrick of tries as did Kyle Evans, who again looked so dangerous every time he received the ball.
Full back Dale Ford finished the afternoon with a 19 point haul from a try and seven conversions in what was a great run out as we start the business end of the season.
Full credit to Bonymaen they finished the game positively as they defended superbly in the last 20 minutes to deny Llanelli any further points.
Bonymaen 6 – 54 Llanelli RFC
