CARDIFF braved terrible conditions to come away with their first league win on Llanelli soil since 1995.
In a error-strewn contest it was a penalty try with little over 10 minutes remaining that pushed Cardiff into the lead.
A crooked Llanelli line-out throw five metres out gifted the Blue and Blacks the field position to unleash their superior scrum and force the penalty try out of their retreating hosts.
Outside-half Dan Newton was also guilty of spurning three very kickable penalties, most notably one at the death which would have brought the scores level.
Earlier Llanelli centre Nick Reynolds had grabbed the only try of a dire first half, capitalising on a loose ball in the Cardiff 22 to kick ahead and score.
Cardiff number 10 Chris Anderson slotted two good penalties for the visitors, but it was his replacement, Lee Jarvis, who entered the fray and gave the visitors the composure to finally take hold of the game and the four points with Llanelli again gaining a losing bonus point for their efforts.
