Our last Principality Premiership league game of the season turned out to be a very disappointing one. Ponty earned a very comfortable win by 48 –14, scoring seven tries in the process.
It looked very much like the cup win the previous Sunday took it’s toll as the Llanelli side really didn’t get started, and yet it took the home side 19mins to open their account, and ironically it came from a loose Llanelli kick in mid field. The home side countered and centre Gary Williams finished the move off crossing near to the posts. Dean Gunter added the conversion. That set the tone for the remainder of the game with Llanelli conceding possession far to easily. Two further tries, one a penalty try were added which was supplemented with a penalty goal and Ponty had opened up a commanding lead which they never looked like losing. Scrum Half Aled Davies got on the score sheet for Llanelli right on half time following a series of plays close out. Half Time Llanelli 7 Pontypridd 24
Llanelli brought on a series of replacements in the second half, but Ponty had a head of steam up and there was to be no comeback. Ponty added four tries in the second half to complete a disappointing night for the visitors.
